Intro to Radio & Podcasting (The Kings Trust, London)

The Gaydio Academy, in partnership with The Kings Trust, are delivering radio skills training, peer support and mentoring to give participants their first steps in radio, a look at the industry as a whole and then creating content for all participants to take away with them to help them into future volunteering roles & work experience. 

Course Layout

  1. Taster session

  2. Introduction to radio and how to become a radio presenter

  3. Show content & news presenting

  4. Other roles in radio & a look at music

  5. Advert production

  6. Creating your own station, job searching in the industry and preparation for the creation of your podcasts

  7. Podcast creation, a session exploring the next stage progression tailored to participant's specific needs and next steps with Gaydio and other radio stations

Location, Dates, Times & Costs

Location: Toynbee Studios, 28 Commercial Street, London, E1 6AB

Taster Date: 19th March- 1pm to 3/3:30pm

Course Date: 24th to 28th March - 10:15am to 4:30pm

Cost: Free for all participants

 

Criteria (You must)

  • be 16-30 years old

  • be Greater London based but can travel to the Tower Hamlets area

  • be available for all dates above

  • not have done a previous 'Intro to Radio & Podcasting' course with Gaydio

Current work or education criteria - You can apply if

  • You're on a zero-hour contract

  • You're working for less than 16 hours per week (including self-employment)

  • You're in education for less than 14 hours per week

  • You're doing only voluntary work

  • You're in custody
